Restricted GMDSS Operator

The present program is intended for training of GMDSS restricted area ship operators. The program is developed according to IMO A.703 (17) [I1] 1 recommendation on training of GMDSS ship experts. 

As a result of the course training the participants should know:

• the substantive provisions, concerning GMDSS organization
• requirements to radio equipment, power supplies, the obligatory ship documentation, presence of radio experts onboard a vessel and radiowatchekeeping
• organization of search and rescue operations
• main principles of the organization of the GMDSS communication systems and notifications (DSC, radiotelephony, satellite communication systems, emergency radio beacons, radar-tracking respondents, systems of transfer of safety information on the sea)
• procedures of emergency radio communication and communication of general purpose

they should be able:

• to use the GMDSS equipment and the obligatory ship documentation for realization of emergency radio communication procedures and communication of general purpose, receiving of the information on safety on the sea
• to keep the GMDSS radio logbook
• to carry out technical inspections of radio equipment
• to calculate payments for communication services

they should have steady skills in the actions connected with receiving and signaling of disaster and distress messages, and also in case of submission of false distress signals.
